Perfect weather conditions enabled the first helicopter landing on the newly built Prince of Wales Hospital Acute Services Building helipad, part of an initial test flight marking another exciting milestone for Randwick Campus Redevelopment.

A day and night landing test was conducted to ensure the new helipad is safe for operation.

The new helipad is located above the building’s operating theatres, intensive care unit and Emergency Department, with access via a priority lift to ensure patients receive treatment as quickly as possible.

It will become operational when the new Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre and Health Translation Hub projects near completion in 2025.

The helipad includes one landing pad and a helicopter parking space, enabling capacity for two helicopters on the 13-storey high facility.
