The Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre (MCCCC) brings together the Kids Cancer Centre, Children’s Cancer Institute and University of New South Wales in a formal partnership, and the inaugural MCCCC Strategy for 2024-2026 represents a shared commitment to improving paediatric cancer care in Australia.
By fostering collaboration, accelerating research, and delivering integrated, patient-centred care, MCCCC aims to provide transformative benefits for children with cancer and their families, striving to end the burden of childhood cancer nationally.
Key highlights of the MCCCC Strategy: 1. Our Shared Vision: Working together to end the burden of children’s cancer • MCCCC builds on a strong history of collaboration to translate research into clinical trials and medical care. • Our shared vision strengthens our purpose, and as we look to the future, reminds us that together we can deliver far greater benefits than we possibly could alone.
2. Comprehensive Care and Research Hub • MCCCC will accommodate up to 900 professionals, including clinicians, scientists, and allied health workers. • It will feature advanced laboratory spaces, educational and training facilities, new inpatient units, and a state-of-the-art outpatient treatment centre designed to accommodate a wide range of therapies.
3. Transformational Collaboration • The centre builds on nearly 40 years of collaboration between Children’s Cancer Institute and the Kids Cancer Centre, leveraging our combined expertise to enhance research and clinical care. • This partnership is expected to accelerate the translation of laboratory discoveries into New strategy sets vision for Minderoo Children's Comprehensive Cancer Centre clinical practice, improving the journey from diagnosis through treatment to survivorship.
4. Strategic Objectives • Accelerate Research: Implementing a translational research model to expedite the journey from discovery to clinical implementation, ensuring rapid application of new findings. • Integrated Care: Developing a seamless treatment approach that focuses on the best outcomes for children and their families, emphasising patient-centred innovation. • Magnify Impact: Extending the centre’s influence through external partnerships, collaborative opportunities, and by fostering a culture of excellence in research and care.
This significant investment in paediatric healthcare and MCCCC has been made possible through funding commitments from the NSW Government, Federal Government and in-kind contributions from UNSW.
Children’s Cancer Institute, Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation and Minderoo Foundation have also made philanthropic contributions.
