State Significant Development approval SSD-10831778

On 17 December 2021, the NSW Department of Planning Environment (DPE) approved the State Significant Development application (SSD-10831778) for construction and use of a new 12 storey hospital building (including two basement levels and upper plant room) for the Sydney Children’s Hospital and Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

The planning approval is the result of a thorough assessment of the proposal and its environmental impacts. The project EIS and supporting documentation is available on the DPIE Major Projects web page.

Current status of works

Enabling and early works for the project have been underway on site since early 2022 under separate planning approvals. Works for the project approved under SSD-10831788 are due to commence in September 2022 with initial activities including site establishment activities, installation of work sheds, earthworks, piling and bulk excavation.
